Retention windows, recycle bins and version history — all of which have time limits and can be bypassed by an attacker with admin rights.
What a proper backup adds
Independent, immutable copies with unlimited retention, granular restore of a single email or an entire site, and protection that does not depend on the tenant remaining healthy.
